FUN Society was founded in February 2008 by Maia Green, an environmental activist and educator from Victoria, BC.  Maia has always believed that making the task of saving the world a whole ton of fun is crucial. Her love for working with young people and her lifelong passion of saving the planet finally found each other and FUN Society was born.

The philosophy driving FUN Society is that education is the key to change. FUN Society believes that by making environmental education fun and hands-on kids and youth will be inspired into creating a healthy future for this planet.  There is a huge need for environmental education and FUN Society was formed to increase the amount of environmental education being offered.  We believe that connecting children and youth to nature, while also encouraging them to think critically about how they can exist sustainably within a city setting is an integral part of education.  The founding pillars of FUN Society are sustainability, collaboration and leadership.

FUN Society began by piloting FUN Camps in Vancouver in 2008.  In 2009 FUN Society became a registered charity, ran after-school programs and a spring break camp in Vancouver, and piloted FUN Camps Victoria as well as a Peer Leader program.

FUN Society has been built on the passion of many like-minded people and the amazing kids who have come through our programs.
